Redmi Note 7S India launch on May 20: 48MP camera, dot drop notch, glass body and all we know so far



Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi Note 7S in India on May 20, that is on Monday. Ahead of the launch a lot is being revealed by the company about the smartphone. Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi Note 7S will come packed with a 48MP camera on the back panel. In addition, Xiaomi has also posted several camera samples in both day, as well as low-light situations, shot on the Redmi Note 7S. Several rumours and leaks suggest that the Redmi Note 7S will be the China variant of the Redmi Note 7. However, Xiaomi hasn't confirmed any of the leaks or rumours.

This is for the first time that Xiaomi is launching three Note devices in a series. Beginning this year the company launched the Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro in India. As the names suggest the Pro version is slightly expensive than the standard Redmi Note 7. In India, the Redmi Note 7 price starts at Rs 9,999 while the starting price of the Redmi Note 7 Pro is Rs 13,999. Going by the company's past records the upcoming Redmi Note 7S will also be aggressively priced in India. Xiaomi will reveal the official price of the Redmi Note 7S on Monday via a livestream event on the company's website.

As said, Xiaomi has already revealed some details about the Redmi Note 7S. Let's take a quick look at everything we know about the Redmi Note 7S so far.

48MP camera will be the key highlight of the Redmi Note 7S. Xiaomi is promoting the Redmi Note 7S with the (hashtag) #48MPforeveryone. This means that like the Redmi Note 7 Pro the upcoming Redmi Note 7S will also include a 48MP main camera on the back panel. However, as of now, there are no reports on to which camera sensor Xiaomi will be using for the Redmi Note 7S. The Redmi Note 7 Pro uses Sony IMX586 camera sensor. Xiaomi is yet to reveal details about the secondary and front camera of the Redmi Note 7S.

Ahead of the launch Xiaomi has confirmed that similar to the other two Redmi Note 7 series of phones the Redmi Note 7S will also come with a glass body and include Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. The phone is expected to sport gradient finish design similar to the Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Dot drop notch is also confirmed for the Redmi Note 7S. Both the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro come with a dot drop notch that includes the selfie camera and in turn minimizes the bezels on the sides. The teasers of the Redmi Note 7S show the bezels on three sides of the phone are minimal. The chin of the phone is pretty visible similar to the Redmi Note 7 series of phones.

Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Jain has posted a photo holding the Redmi Note 7S in his hands. He shows off the Redmi Note 7S in Red colour variant. Similar to the other two Redmi Note 7 series of phones the Redmi Note 7S may also come in funky colours.

Xiaomi India has posted several pictures shot with the Redmi Note 7S. The company is touting that Redmi Note 7S' low-light camera performance. This may mean that the Redmi Note 7S will come with Night mode like the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro.

The picture Xiaomi posted of the phone revealed that the Redmi Note 7S has been confirmed to come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Xiaomi is yet to reveal other details like battery, processor, software, front camera of the Redmi Note 7S. These details will be revealed by the company on Monday during the launch. Alongside these details, the company will also reveal the India price of the Redmi Note 7S during the launch livestream on Monday. We expect the India price of the Redmi Note 7S to be cheaper than the Redmi Note 7 Pro that sells for starting price of Rs 13,999 in India right now.
